(WO) – SLB has been awarded multiple offshore drilling and well services contracts by Mubadala Energy for the Tangkulo deepwater gas development and associated exploration and appraisal program in the Andaman Sea offshore Indonesia.
Under the agreements, SLB will provide integrated drilling and well services across the full well lifecycle, supporting development of the deepwater gas project as Mubadala targets first gas before the end of 2028. The contracts were awarded through a competitive tender process and underscore the strategic importance of the project to Indonesia’s long-term energy supply.
The scope of work includes directional drilling, drilling fluids, cementing, wireline, slickline, coiled tubing, well testing, mud logging and upper and lower completions. SLB will deploy its offshore and deepwater technologies, including real-time downhole monitoring, to support well placement, improve operational efficiency and reduce risk during execution.
The integrated services model is designed to streamline offshore operations and enhance safety and reliability across the drilling and completion phases. The Tangkulo development is a key component of Mubadala Energy’s Southeast Asia portfolio and part of broader efforts to advance offshore gas resources supporting regional energy security.
Mubadala said the project will leverage advanced drilling technologies and integrated execution to enable efficient development of Indonesia’s offshore gas reserves, while SLB noted the collaboration reflects continued demand for integrated service delivery in complex deepwater environments.
