The charging of the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda LNG pipeline has been delayed by three months. In a disclosure before the stock exchange, GAIL stated that instead of September 30, the network is expected to be operational by December 31.
The pipeline project is divided into three parts: Mumbai-Nagpur, Nagpur-Jharsuguda, and Nagpur-Jabalpur. GAIL mentioned that the Mumbai to Nagpur line, which covers a distance of 693 km, is mechanically ready but awaits an inspection from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), the central govt agency based in Nagpur. The Mumbai-Nagpur stretch runs along the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
The 489 km pipeline towards Jharsuguda, passing through Chhattisgarh and Odisha, is ready but awaits PESO inspections. In this phase, 203km of the pipeline also passes through Maharashtra. Here, work remains to be done on a nine km stretch which is expected to be completed by December this year.
Work remains pending on a 1.8 km stretch in the Nagpur-Jabalpur route, which is expected to be completed by October, says the company’s disclosure.
